Ancilla’s Krempec, Hunter Sign with IUN

February 22, 2011

02/23/11  Ancilla College sophomore Lauren Krempec and graduate Tristan Hunter have signed with the Indiana University – Northwest women’s volleyball team for the 2011 season.

Krempec is an outside hitter who graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, IN.  She earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors and made the All-Freshman Team in 2009 while playing for the Lady Chargers.

Hunter, a 2010 Ancilla graduate, is a setter and a native of Knox, IN.  During her time at Ancilla, she was honored as the Outstanding Female Scholar Athlete and was an Academic All-American for the Lady Chargers.

“I am happy for both Tristan and Lauren,” said Ancilla volleyball head coach Lana Singleton.  “They both did a great job at Ancilla College both in the classroom and on the court.  IUN is not only getting two quality volleyball players, but they are getting two quality young ladies.”

They will join a Redhawks program undergoing a change of leadership.  Sara Keilman was recently hired as the head coach and will be assisted by associate head coach Larry Babcock.

According to Babcock, Krempec and Hunter are a perfect fit for the new direction of the program.

“We are very excited to have Lauren and Tristan sign with IUN,” said Babcock.  “They will be a great addition to our team and fit the mold of our team philosophy.  We are looking for big things from both of them as we take the next step towards our conference championship and first ever NAIA National tournament berth.”

Both Krempec and Hunter are equally excited about their new opportunities.

“I’m really excited and think the new coaching staff at IUN will turn this program around,” said Krempec, an Education major.  “I’m excited to be a part of it.”

“I have missed volleyball and I am glad to get the opportunity to play again,” added Hunter, who majored in Behavioral Science.

Ancilla College is a Catholic, two-year, co-educational, liberal arts college in Donaldson, Indiana sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
