Mayor Senter Appoints Mark Owen as Assistant Chief

  05/31/13 Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter announced the appointment of Mark Owen as Assistant Chief of Police.  Owen has been with the department since July of 1994.

Owen was promoted to the rank of corporal in 2000 and promoted to his current rank of sergeant in 2005.  He is certified as a firearms instructor through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and has also served as an instructor for S.T.O.P.S. (Strategies and Tactics of Patrol Stops).  Most notably, Owen has served as the departments D.A.R.E. officer since 1999.  He currently instructs the D.A.R.E. program to third and sixth grade students in the Plymouth Community Schools.  Owen will continue to instruct the D.A.R.E. program in his new position.

Owen is a 1988 graduate of South Central High School.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1988 until 1992, and upon his honorable discharge was employed with the Indiana Department of Corrections as a correctional officer at Westville State Prison.  Mark and his wife Melissa have two children, Travis and Kelsey.

Owen will begin his duties as Assistant Chief on June 1st.
