Avon Fundraiser for Heminger House Shelter

January 15, 2012

01/16/12 Local Avon representative, Lorraine Meade has decided to do a fundraiser for the Heminger House Shelter for Women and Children.

She said she had no connection to the shelter but recently “stumbled on the path of Annie Wojcik, the executive director of Heminger House.” During their visit Lorraine learned of the funding needs of the shelter.  She immediately asked when she could do a fundraiser for them.  A few days later is was up and going.

Lorraine has pledged to donate a percentage of the sales, and will give 40% of the sales from campaign 3 to the shelter when orders reach $1,500 that would be $600 to Heminger.  When asked why Meade said, “That’s easy.  Avon is the company for women.  They have supported women for 125 years. The Avon Foundation for women supports domestic violence programs such as this.”

An Avon representative for nearly two years, this is the first fundraiser she had done.  Since Heminger House is a non-profit, their tax exempt status can be used so orders will not include tax although there is a $.75 charge on each order to cover expenses.

Avon books are available at the Mayor’s office or at the WTCA Studios.  Orders are being taken until January 24th.

Anyone interested in a fundraising opportunity with Avon can contact Lorraine Meade at 574-835-4130.
