05/16/11 Thursday afternoon the Bass Lake Fire Department responded to a 9-1-1 call of a fully engulfed structure. The home at 6560 South State Road 10 at Bass Lake had flames shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived on the scene.
Firefighters battled the blaze for more than 45 minutes before bringing it under control. The two-story brick home was a total loss. A preliminary cause of the fire has been listed as a lightening strike. The home is valued at approximately $500,000.
Neighbors say the property is a summer home for an Illinois resident.
Assisting the Bass Lake Fire Department was the Knox-Center and North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Departments.
