Bauer Building Parking Lot Project Goes to Bid

June 26, 2013

06/27/13 Plymouth City Engineer Rick Gaul presented a drawing for the proposed Bauer Building Parking Lot of East Garro Street.  Last year the city purchased the building for $58,300 and budgeted $75,000 for the improvement project in this year’s budget.

Gaul said the new design will allow traffic to enter and exit on either driveway. The new parking lot layout had additional green space with tree on the east the south side.  The current sidewalk will be removed and a new 8 foot wide one will replace it with a look similar to the design concept River Park Square.  The trees will also match what is in the new park.

The layout meets transportation standards allows for parking spaces of 10 by 20.  There will be two handicap parking spaces on the south east corner, closest to the park and 31 regular parking spaces.

When asked about exiting onto the alley as the lot currently does Gaul said, “A six inch reinforced concrete curb will keep drivers from using the alley.

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved the design concept and motioned to send the project to bid.   Bids will be received on August 12th, with the project scheduled to start on September 3rd and completion set for September 30th.
