Blake’s Pumpkins Donating to Show With A Cop

October 2, 2012

10/03/12 Autumn is here and now’s the time to start decorating your yard and home for fall.  Blake’s Pumpkins at 13271 Muckshaw Road in Plymouth is teaming up with Plymouth FOP 195 this year to help the less fortunate in the community.

Blake’s Pumpkins will be donating 50% of their proceeds to the Shop With A Cop program.

The idea of helping is not new to Blake’s Pumpkins.   Several years ago a relative of theirs was injured when a tree fell on her.  The Blakes were able to donate a substantial amount of money to help with medical bills.

Emily Blake, a senior at Plymouth High School suggested to her parents, Brian and Carol that this year they donate a portion of the proceeds from the pumpkin sales to the Shop With A Cop Program in Marshal County.  She said working at Ponderosa and seeing the involvement they have in the community and with the Shop With A Cop program was her incentive.

The Blakes have a small home farm operation on west side of Muckshaw Road.  They have been growing and selling pumpkins for 23 years.  This year’s drought didn’t affect the pumpkin and gourd crop because the family watered each plant in the 4 acre field by hand.  It’s a family affair with seven children and many of them pitching in to hoe those pumpkins duing the hot summer season.

Not only does Blake’s have pumpkins in all sizes, they have decorative gourds, straw and corn stalks.  So when you are taking the kids out to pick their pumpkins to make that special jack-o-lantern please consider Blake’s Pumpkins and you’ll be helping the Shop With A Cop program in Marshall County too.
