2015 Blueberry Festival Collector Basket Now Available

August 11, 2015

Blueberry_Basket_2015_1The 49th Annual Marshall County Blueberry Festival over Labor Day Weekend unveiled the 11th collector basket on WTCA Tuesday morning.

Blueberry_Basket_2015_2Sherrie Martin, Festival Coordinator said, “The basket this year is by a different company because the company we have been with for 10 years, unfortunately closed their doors.”   The new company the festival selected, Peterboro Basket Company in New Hampshire has its roots extending back to 1854.

Blueberry_Basket_2015_3This year’s basket is larger than in the past (17½” long, 12’’ wide and 5” deep) and Martin referred to it as a gathering basket.  This year’s basket is made of Appalachian white ash, the same wood baseball bats are made from making them very sturdy.  The woven basket had two strips of blue leather woven in to decorate the basket.  It has two wooden handles, the 2015 Blueberry brass plaque along with one for Peterboro’s.  The basket comes with a plastic inner protector that’s divided into 7 compartments and decorative blueberry cloth liner.

Blueberry_Basket_2015_4Martin said, “Every piece of the basket is made in America.”  The baskets are in limited supply and now available for $60 at the Marshall County Blueberry Festival office at 233 East Jefferson Street in Plymouth.  They will also be available at the souvenir booths at the Blueberry Festival until sold out.
