07/21/11 On Friday, July 15th the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was doing Lake Patrol on Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. Officer Nick Laffoon along with Officer Les McFarland observed a boat that appeared to have an expired boat registration. Both Officers made contact with the boat captain, and the driver of the boat, Bryan D. Naylor 28, of Plymouth. While speaking with Mr. Naylor it was discovered that he had a suspended license, and a person with a suspended license is not able to operate a boat on Indiana water ways.
It was also found that Mr. Naylor was intoxicated. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department where he was given a chemical test that revealed that he was in fact intoxicated with a .09%. Naylor was arrested at that time for Operating a Motorboat while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor, and also Operating a Motor Boat While Intoxicated with a prior offence, a Class D Felony. Naylor was booked in with a $1,000.00 cash bond that was paid on Saturday, July 16th at 12:50 a.m. He is scheduled to appearance in Marshall County Superior Court #2 on August 9th at 8:30am.
The Marshall County Police urges people to be responsible while operating a water craft. The Marshall County Police will be patrolling Lake Maxinkuckee for the duration of the summer.
