Boater Education Classes Offered in Starke County

Indiana Conservation Officers are providing two opportunities in Starke County for the public to attend an Indiana Boater Education Course.

The first class will be held June 14, 2014 from 9am – 5pm CDT at the Bass Lake Property Owners Association (BLPOA) Community Center at 6996 S SR 10, Bass Lake.

The second class will be held July 19, 2014 from 9am- 5pm CDT at the Koontz Lake Homeowners Association clubhouse located at 10896 E Cherokee, Walkerton.

Both of the hosting lake associations are providing lunch for participants. Attendance at only one class is necessary.

The class covers a wide variety of information, including:

• General information concerning boats and maintenance
• Information to make your boating experience more safe and comfortable
• Tips on how to be a more courteous vessel operator
• Laws and regulations you must follow

Upon successful completion of the class, boaters 15 years and older, with an Indiana ID can operate motorboats on state waters.
