County Building Commissioner Presents 3rd Quarter Report

10/18/11 Marshall County Building Commissioner Chuck DeWitt presented his 3rd quarter report to the County Commissioners Monday morning.

During the third quarter a total of 96 building permit applications were approved with an estimated construction value of $3,919,453.  Permits issued were for 22 accessory structures, 17 accessory structures with electric, 5 commercial upgrades, 6 commercial with electric and plumbing, 10 conventional homes, 2 decks, 1 home addition, 3 home additions with electric, 3 home additions with electric and plumbing, 3 modular homes, 1 other, 1 porch, 1 roof structural change, 3 below ground swimming pools, and 18 service upgrades.

DeWitt also completed 462 inspections during July, August & September including 2 health and substandard housing inspections.

Taking a look at the year-to-date statics you’ll find a total of 239 building permits with an estimated construction value of $7,256,035.

The Building Commissioner said 34 new contractors have registered and 6 are waiting for approval.  He explained that he tries to stop by various construction sites to make sure the contractors are registered in the county.  Registration is $50 annually.  They must also show proof of insurance and liability, worker’s compensation and a $5,000 bond.
