School Board Aproves Bus Parking Lot at Webster School

  07/13/12 Traffic congestion at Webster Elementary School in Plymouth will likely be relieved with the completion of a bus parking lot at the school. During a school board meeting on July 10, architect Brent Martin presented drawings of the proposed parking area as well as reviewing bids that had been received on the proposed project.

Martin said the traffic coming from the new bus turnaround will go onto Lemler Lane. He said it will help traffic flow on Oak Hill Ave. According to Martin, the lot will have asphalt paving and sidewalks. The lowest bidder was E & B Paving with a base bid of $78,400. They were also awarded two alternates of $11,025 for lighting and $3,900 for a storm outlet, bringing the total to $93,323. The budgeted amount for the proposed project had been set at $150,000.

Martin said the bid packet called for work to begin immediately, with a maximum of 45 days from the awarding of the bid for completion.. According to Martin, the most difficult part of the project will be the installation of a concrete manhole.

Other bids were received as follows: Reith Riley, base bid of $126,575; Phend and Brown, base bid of $110,500; and Walsh & Kelly, base bid of $88,983.

Lighting alternate bids ranged from $9,800 to $11, 360 and storm inlet bids were from $1,685 to $3,900.

The board voted 4-0 to award the bid t o E & B Paving. Board member Todd Samuelson was absent from the meeting.
