MCCO Carport Sale Successful‏

June 4, 2012

06/05/12 The Marshall County Church Orchestra held their second annual carport sale at Miller’s Senior Living Community on Saturday, June 2nd.  The weather co-operated nicely and with other events going on in town the sale was well attended.

The carport sale is a fundraiser to help the orchestra defray the cost of music and other needed items. Several Miller’s staff members and volunteers are members of the orchestra.  Residents of the facility enjoyed visiting with the orchestra members and browsing through the many sale tables. The sale will continue at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9th at 800 North Walnut Street in Plymouth.

The Marshall County Church Orchestra’s summer “Concert in the Park” series will begin Sunday, June 10th at 6:00 p.m. at the Argos Memorial Park. The Argos Memorial Park is located at the South end of Michigan Street in Argos across from Broadway Street.

The MCCO is under the direction of Don Harness of Plymouth.  They will present a variety of favorite hymns as well as classical music, Broadway hits, movie themes and contemporary songs.  A highlight of the concert will be the Argos High School fight song, “On Wisconsin”. The audience will be encouraged to sing along.  There will be a special guest appearance by the Walnut Church of the Brethren Choir led by Judy Hall.

The remainder of the “Concert In The Park” series will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8th at the Culver Town Park; Sunday, August 12th at the Walkerton Park; and Sunday, September 9th at Miller’s Senior Living Community.

The concerts are free and open to the public.  Please remember to bring a lawn chair or blanket for comfortable seating at the “Concert in the Park series. Anyone wishing to bring a picnic supper may do so.  This is an entertaining evening for the entire family.

Other venues where you may hear the orchestra include the Plymouth Farmer’s Market on Saturday, June 16th and August 18th at 9:00 a.m.; The Marshall County 4-H Fair on Thursday, July 19th at 7:00 p.m. and at the Jacoby Church Sunday, October 7th at 3:00 p.m.

The orchestra continues to seek new members.  They are in particular need of – but not limited to – low brass instruments. All ages and skill levels are welcome.  For more information about joining or booking the orchestra please call Don Harness at 574-936-7357.
