Centier Bank tops the list of 2010’s “Best Places to Work in Indiana” by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.  This is the fourth year in a row that Centier has been listed among the top 10 employers in the state and the first time that it has topped the list.  Centier was ranked among 70 other Hoosier companies and placed first in the large company category for companies with 250 or more employees.  The announcement was made at a dinner hosted by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce on May 6th in Indianapolis.

Headquartered in Merrillville, Centier was the only Northwest Indiana company and one of only three banks to make the list. Centier was chosen as one of the Best Places to Work after receiving an in-depth evaluation identifying the strengths and weaknesses according to their employees.  Results were tabulated with 75% of the final score based on associates surveys and 25% based on employee benefits.

Honored for its strong workplace environment that values its employees, Centier recently celebrated its 115th anniversary as a Schrage family-owned and operated, independent community bank.

“Our world-class service reputation is well-known in communities where we have a presence,” stated Mike Schrage, Centier Bank president and CEO.  “The fact that we are now recognized as state champions among the best Indiana employers is an honor for every member of our organization.  Our undivided corporate culture, hard work, and service help set us apart, especially during the past year when the financial industry has gone through so much.”

The Centier organization was recognized for their outstanding corporate culture that promotes a family-friendly atmosphere and includes many unique benefits for both part-time and full-time employees.  In addition to a 401k and ASOP plans, Centier offers associates flexible scheduling, day care discounts, infertility assistance, wedding and high school graduation bonuses, and a senior care benefit for associates, parents, and grandparents.

The Best Companies Group has overseen similar award programs in 19 other states.  ModernThink, LLC, a workplace excellence consulting firm, handled the selection process.  The basis for this initiative is Fortune magazine’s noted “100 Best Places to Work for” list.   For more information on Centier products, services, and career opportunities, please visit its website at www.centier.com.
