ABOUT THE PLYMOUTH OPTIMIST CLUB

Optimist Clubs are dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids.”  Optimist Clubs conduct positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best they can be.

Since each Club is autonomous and run by members in their community, each Optimist Club determines the needs of the young people in its community and conducts programs to meet those needs.  Every year, Optimists around the world conduct 65,000 service projects and serve well over six million young people.

The Plymouth Optimist Club provides four college scholarships each year.  They also host an Essay Contest and a Tri-Star Basketball Contest.  Every year the Plymouth Optimists sponsor a Tennis Tournament, a Youth Bowling Team, and two students to attend Law & Order Camp.  They contribute to the United Way of Marshall County, Marshall County Reading Council, Community Food Pantry, After Prom, Boys and Girls Club, the Kizer Athletic Award and other not-for-profit organizations.  At Thanksgiving they help provide holiday meals and at Christmas they “Adopt a Family” to provide gifts and food to needy families.  The Optimist Club also plants flowers in Downtown Plymouth and participates in the Yellow River Festival.
