Yates-Sharp Arrested for OWI after Crash on St. Rd. 17

  12/17/13 On Saturday, December 14th at approximately 3:00 p.m. the Marshall County 9-1-1-Dispatch Center received calls reporting a Pontiac Grand Prix in the ditch on State Road 17 east of Quince Road. The callers advised that the driver was intoxicated and there was a small child in the vehicle. 

County Officer Jonathan Bryant responded to the scene and found the driver, 42 year old Charlene Yates-Sharp of Plymouth to be highly intoxicated in the vehicle along with a small child.

Throughout the investigation Ms. Sharp refused to cooperate with officers and began battering them with physical force and bodily fluids as well as battered multiple nurses at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth. 

Sharp was later transported to the Marshall County Jail and lodged for operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangering, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting law enforcement and battery resulting in bodily injury.   She was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Officer Bryant was assisted by Deputy Ryan Hollopeter, the Plymouth Police Department and the Plymouth EMS.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
