New Chief Takes Oath of Office

February 4, 2013

02/05/13 Mayor Mark Senter looked on Friday afternoon as City Clerk Treasure Toni Hutchings administered the Oath of Office to newly appointed Police Chief Dave bacon.

Just a week earlier the mayor announced a change in leadership for the Police Department.  Chief Jim Cox had been in the position for nine years.

Senter said, “I am looking forward to a new phase of the Plymouth Police Department with new energy and insight.  I have confidence in Chief Bacon’s leadership skills and he has the right people around him to make sound decisions.”

Those in attendance included Chief Bacon’s immediate family including his wife and children and parents.  The entire prosecuting attorney staff was on hand along with Council members Duane Culp and Wayne Smith, Marshall County Sheriff Tom Chamberlin, Fire Chief Rod Miller and three or four Plymouth police officers.

Chief Bacon has served the last nine years with the department at Assistant Chief.   He is a 1987 graduate of Plymouth High School.  He also attended Ball State University and Ancilla College.

Jim Cox will remain with the department as a Detective Sergeant.
