M.C. Church Orchestra’s Performance in Argos

August 19, 2011

08/22/11 The Argos Community Park provided a beautiful backdrop for The Marshall County Church Orchestra’s their third Concert in the Park a couple of Sunday evening ago.  The orchestra has been traveling to different city parks this summer sharing their musical talent with the citizens throughout Marshall County.

Director Don Harness led the orchestra in a variety of music including classical orchestrations by Mozart, Haydn, and Dvorak.  They also played Broadway tunes, movie hits, and hymns.  The orchestra surprised the crowd by playing the Argos High School fight song “On Wisconsin”.  Several of the orchestra members are originally from Argos and it was especially meaningful for them to play this song at the Argos concert.

The special musical guest for the evening was the Walnut Church of the Brethren Choir under the direction of Judy Hall.  The choir sang some of their favorite praise and worship songs. The Walnut Ringers (children’s handbell choir) led by Teri Sabanski performed “Amazing Grace” and “Do Lord”.  The choir then joined the orchestra on the beautiful hymn “In The Garden”.

The orchestra will complete their Concert in the Park series on Sunday, September 11 at Miller’s Senior Living Community at 6:00 p.m.  The outdoor concert will help kick-off National Assisted Living Week.  The special musical guests with the orchestra in September will be Quentin Flagg of Plymouth.  For more information about joining or booking the orchestra, call Don Harness at 936-7357.
