Culver Academies Inaugural Parade Practice Parade Sunday

January 9, 2013

01/10/13 As the riders from Culver Academies prepare for their 16th appearance in a presidential inaugural parade, the community will have an opportunity to see them this Sunday. A practice inaugural parade will be held through the streets of Culver.

The CMA band will be leading the 82 mounted riders through town and it should be quite sight for the local public. Because the horses and riders will be in Washington DC for the parade they are hopeful that the local public will turn out and view the 58 Troopers and 24 Equestriennes.

The procession will begin on Academy Road at the Henderson Ice Arena and head south. They will follow Academy Road to Lake Shore Drive turning left and traveling along the lakeside to State Street (the fire station), where the procession will turn right and proceed north back to Academy Road, turning right and returning to campus. The riders will not be on Indiana 10.

The parade is scheduled to step off at 1:15 p.m.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Culver’s first Presidential Inaugural Parade in 1913.  This is Culver’s 16th appearance overall and the 14th since 1957.
