County Police Investigate Crashes Caused by Snow

01/10/11 The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a one vehicle accident Thursday, January 6th on Plymouth LaPorte Trail at Sage Road.  Patrolman Nick Laffoon investigated the crash.  The driver of the 2004 Dodge Durango, 33 year old Crystal L. Martin of Plymouth advised she lost control of the vehicle on the slick snow covered roads while traveling west on Plymouth – LaPorte Trail .  The vehicle ran off the roadway and struck several large decorative  rocks at the T- intersection. All subjects in the vehicle were transported by family to Saint Joseph Regional Emergency Room for minor injuries.

A Short time later at 10:20 AM the Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle accident on Plymouth – LaPorte Trail east of West County Line Road.   Patrolman Nick Laffoon spoke with 42 year old Michelle C. Barnaby of Bourbon the driver of the 2011 Mercury Milan.  Barnaby advised she was traveling southeast on Plymouth – LaPorte Trail east of West County Line when she lost control of her vehicle while applying her brakes in the curve.  Because of the slick snow covered roads the vehicle traveled left of center into the path of an oncoming vehicle.  The 2nd vehicle a 2000 Ford F150 driven by 53 year old Roger A. Arbaugh of Walkerton advised that he was unable to avoid the collision.  Barnaby was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Hospital by friends due to minor injuries sustained by the accident.
