Motorcycle Driver Leg Amputated in Crash

Crash_US106_Miami_bikeA Plymouth man lost his leg in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon on State Road 106.
Just after 5 p.m. Indiana State Police Trooper Luke Waikel investigated a crash involving at 2010 Victory Motorcycle and a 2014 Toyota Tundra.

According to the crash report, 49 year old Joseph Peverelle of Hope Boulevard of Plymouth was eastbound on State Road 106 on his motorcycle.

Crash_US106_Miami_truck68 year old Russell Young of Hawthorne Road in Bremen was northbound on Miami Road In his pickup truck. He told the trooper he stopped for the stop sign at State Road 106, did not see the motorcycle and pulled out striking the motorcycle broadside.

Peverelle was airlifted from the scene to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with severe leg trauma and other injuries. Young was not injured in the crash.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
