Abused Dog in Bremen Euthanized

December 22, 2011

12/23/11 Bremen Police Chief Matthew Hassel is asking for citizen’s assistance in solving a cruelty of animal case.

On Wednesday, December 21 about 1:40 p.m. Dick Hepler of 510 N. Center Street in Bremen reported that his 14 year old Miniature Sheltie dog was missing. He advised that the family first noticed the dog missing on Tuesday.

At 4:06 p.m. Mrs. Hepler contacted the Bremen Police Department and reported that the dog had returned and appeared to be severely injured and had what appeared to be broken egg shells on it.

Officers dispatched to the residence determined that the dog had been abused.  Bremen Police are now conducting a cruelty to animal investigation. The animal was taken to a veterinarian where it was determined the injuries were too severe and the dog was euthanized.

Anyone with any information about this crime is asked to please contact the Bremen Police Department at 574-546-3456 or Bremen Crime Stoppers at 574-546-5555.
