6 Year old Bourbon Boy Dies in Go-Cart Accident

07/28/11 The Marshall County Coroner’s Office investigated an accident late Tuesday afternoon in Bourbon that claimed the life of six year old Kyle Pugh. 

Kyle was riding a go-cart around a track in the field next to his home when he tipped over and was pinned underneath the cart and the cart caught fire. Kyle was wearing a seat belt at the time. Kyle was familiar with both the cart and the track according to his parents and had been riding for the past two years.

Kyle was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Mishawaka for an autopsy.

Preliminary results of the autopsy Wednesday morning determined that Kyle died of injuries consistent with the accident including head trauma and burns to the majority of his body.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by officers of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources along with the Marshall County Police, Bourbon Police and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office. Agencies at the scene were assisted by the Bourbon Fire Department and Bourbon EMS.
