Indiana Conservation Officer First Sergeant Mark Hines was awarded the DNR Law Enforcement Division’s Director’s leadership Award in ceremonies held in Indianapolis on May 26th. Hines, a 32 year Conservation Officer serves in a supervisor capacity in the DNR’s Syracuse Law Enforcement District. He began his career in 1978 as a field conservation officer in Noble County and was promoted to First Sergeant in 1987 serving in the Anderson and then the Ft Wayne Law Enforcement Districts until he transferred to the Syracuse District in 1998.
The award is given yearly to a DNR Law Enforcement Division staff officer who displays qualities of intellect, human understanding and moral character that enables a person to inspire and control a group of people successfully.
Hines and his wife Tammy live in Nappanee.
The Syracuse Law Enforcement District includes the counties of: St Joseph, Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, Fulton, Miami, and Wabash
