Doghouse Mentoring Program at Riverside ready for Bids

May 19, 2015

Riverside Doghouse complete 1In early April WTCA did a story about an after-school group from Riverside Intermediate School that was building a luxury doghouse that would end up being a fundraiser for the Marshall County Humane Society.

Riverside_DogHouse_1Riverside Teacher Jeff Hunter had a male student he wanted to mentor. The idea of building a doghouse was proposed by another teacher who had worked with hands-on relationship building projects and with the humane society.  Jeff Hunter and the other two teachers, Tim Schmidt and Trenton Porter selected students to join the group to build a large doghouse.

Riverside_DogHouse_4The group had eight 5th grade students that meet on Tuesdays after school for an hour in the Industrial Tech area at Plymouth High School.  They kids, with the help of the teachers have built an extra large dog house with porch and a deck.  The bidding is underway and currently at $300.
