Donnelly Receives Endorsement from Veterans Organizations

October 10, 2012

10/11/12 Wednesday, Joe Donnelly’s campaign for U.S. Senate announced he received endorsements from Veterans’ Vision and Veterans and Military Families for Progress.

“I am honored to receive endorsements from two organizations that are made up of and represent American heroes,” said Donnelly.  “We have a responsibility to serve those who served us, and I will take this same dedication to Indiana’s veterans to the United States Senate.”

Ronald Scott, president of Veterans and Military Families for Progress, said in his endorsement of Donnelly, “For the past six years Congressman Donnelly has been a strong supporter of our nation’s veterans and active armed forces. As a former small businessman Joe Donnelly understands the need for military members who are reintegrating into the civilian job market to have access to educational benefits and job training opportunities.”

Donnelly has served on the House Veterans Affairs Committee for six years, working tirelessly on improving Hoosier veterans’ access to healthcare, resulting in two new clinics and one expanded health care facility in northern Indiana.  He has supported education for returning veterans, protecting veterans’ sensitive information, and speeding up the processing of claims for disabled veterans.

Veterans and Military Families for Progress is an organization made up of members who served, are serving, or are family members of those who have served their country in the U.S. military. It is their mission to “ensure that the rights and needs of veterans, active-duty service members, and their families are understood by the American public, endorsed by our elected officials, and protected by legislation, regulation and public policy initiatives.”  Veterans’ Vision is a nationwide publication with the mission of focusing “the experience and dedication of the leaders of America and veterans on the challenges facing the country.”
