Make Plans to Attend Lighten Parade and Tree Lighting

November 18, 2013

11/19/13 Enjoy the festivities at the 2013 Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, November 29th, the day after Thanksgiving in downtown Plymouth.  The evening events start at 5 p.m. at the Marshall County Museum where the model trains will be running until the parade starts at 6:30 p.m.

Starting at 6 p.m. visit the many stores that are staying open late and enjoy groups of carolers in the downtown area along with free hot chocolate and cookies.

The Parade of Lights follows at 6:30 and will travel from Adams Street south on Michigan Street to LaPorte Street.  From there the parade will travel east on LaPorte Street to Water Street past the new River Park Square and end in the parking lot behind Hoffman Brothers Auto Parts.  The evening parade features “lighted floats” with this year’s theme being “White Christmas.”

The new community Christmas tree will be illuminated on the square at the end of the parade route, as Mayor Mark Senter presides and Christmas music fill the night air.  Registration for $500 in “Santa Bucks” will be taking place at different downtown businesses the week before and culminating in the drawing for valuable gift certificates after the tree lighting, you must be present to win.

After the parade, kids can meet and greet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Marshall County Museum at 123 North Michigan Street in downtown Plymouth for a photo opportunity and continue visiting the many shops open for your convenience.

This is a great opportunity for all Marshall County residents to unite and welcome the Christmas season!
