Bremen and Toll Road Districts to Participate in Impaired Driving Crackdown

February 29, 2012

03/01/12 Beginning this Friday, March 2, state troopers will join more than 250 other Indiana law enforcement agencies across the Hoosier state in the “Drunk Driving – Over the Limit – Under Arrest” March crackdown on impaired and dangerous drivers.

Through March 18, troopers will work overtime to conduct high-visibility enforcement activities designed specifically to identify impaired drivers.  Motorists will also see an increased number of patrols looking for aggressive drivers and unrestrained motorists during the enforcement period.

In March 2010, there were 50 fatalities on Indiana roadways and an intoxicated driver was involved in 28% of those crashes.  The Indiana State Police is committed to reducing the number of impaired driving crashes and continues to aggressively target impaired and dangerous drivers, commented Sgt. Trent Smith.

Operation Pull Over Blitz 70 is a statewide enforcement effort supported by federal funding allocated to the Indiana State Police from the Traffic Safety division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.  To learn more visit: www.StopImpairedDriving.org
