Houin Joins Easterday in Practice

January 9, 2012

04/02/12 James Easterday of Easterday and Ummel announced last week that attorney Jeffry Houin will be joining the law firm as an associate on April 1. Easterday said, “Houin will be bringing a lot of experience in real estate and banking law to the firm.”

Easterday said he has been seeking an attorney to join the practice since the untimely passing of his partner Ted Ummel in October of 2010. The firm, first organized in 1975, has offices in Plymouth and Culver.

Houin has been practicing in South Bend since graduating from Notre Dame Law School in 2008.    Since 2009, he has managed the South Bend satellite office of Doyle Legal Corporation, P. C. He is also the attorney for the Plymouth Community School Corporation.

Easterday said, “I’m very excited to have an associate who grew up in the area.” He added, “It’s a real plus that Jeff is familiar with the county.”

Houin concurred saying, “The community is important to me. Several years ago, my wife Alinda and I made a decision to come back to Plymouth and raise our family here. Practicing in Marshall County is ideal: it will allow me to become even more involved in the community and represent clients here.” The Housing’s are the parents of four children.

Houin said he is especially glad to be joining Easterday and Ummel. He said, “It is a great opportunity for me to be able to work with and learn from such an experienced and highly regarded attorney as Jim.”

Houin will be accepting new clients as of April 1 at the office on Jefferson Street in Plymouth.
