08/22/11 Mayor Mark Senter announced today that Plymouth was selected to participate in the Community Energy Program administered by the Indiana Office of Energy Development. Plymouth was one of 18 communities selected out of 63 competing to participate in the energy audits for public facilities. Along with the audit, the program involves consultation with an architecture and engineering firm to assist in developing a comprehensive strategic energy plan with both short and long term energy efficiency goals.
In his letter to the City announcing Plymouth’s selection, Brandon Seitz, Director of the Indiana Office of Energy Development, emphasized that the City’s “application captured the character of your community and made a strong case for why you want to participate.”
Mayor Senter in turn credited the inclusion in the City’s application of an essay by Riverside School student Carter Sanderson. “In his essay, Carter said he needed our help and inspiration to makePlymoutha thriving, eco-friendly town,” Senter said. “But it is Carter, and those of his generation who are the ones inspiring us to make our City more energy efficient and as Carter said, eco-friendly.”
In addition to praising Carter, Senter thanked Jennifer Laurent of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation and City Attorney Nelson Chipman for their assistance in completing the grant application.
“The CEP program, administered by the Indiana Office of Energy Development, is funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.
