City Engineer Discusses Projects

September 14, 2010

City Engineer Rick Gaul was notified Monday afternoon that the intersection of Oak and Hoham Drives will be closed beginning Wednesday morning, September 15th.

NIPSCO will be working in the intersection to lower the gas main approximately 8 to 10 feet under the pavement.  The project is expected to take several days and is necessary for the upcoming Oak Drive widening and improvement project.

People wishing to access Showland Cinema will need to do so from the north.  Properties with drives south of Hoham will be able to enter from the south.

This closure will be from Wednesday morning until Friday afternoon.

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety also approved the request of IDEM to complete two soil borings on East Jefferson Street at the intersection with Michigan.   IDEM is requesting the borings because they are trying to isolate the way everything is flowing underground.  There is some concern because the properties where Bruno’s and Subway are located were once gas stations.

The project is expected to take 3 hours and will disrupt traffic during the drilling.

IDEM will be seeking approval from INDOT to conduct a soil boring on Michigan Street.
