Plymouth Schools See Increase in Enrollment

September 22, 2011

09/23/11 Although the official enrollment numbers for schools in Indiana will not be verified until the first week in October, Plymouth Schools Superintendent Dan Tyree says they have experienced well over 100 more students this year than last school year.

Last Friday was the official state “count day” which determines the amount of reimbursement that school corporations receive per student from the state.

Tyree said, “We will be looking at how the increased numbers will affect our budget. Once we know what our budget is, we will look to see if it impacts staffing for next year.”

Tyree shared his optimism saying, “I don’t anticipate any cuts. Hopefully, we can add a few things on our wish list.”

Tyree indicated that the specifics of the increase will be reviewed at the next school board meeting on October 4.

With redistricting on the horizon, the school corporation will again use the services of a demographer to pinpoint in what areas of the community students are current living in as well as projections for the future.
