Escaped Juveniles Located in Etna Green Farmhouse

ArrestedThe two Marshall County juveniles that escaped from the Muskegon River Youth Home in Ladoga, IN on August 3rd were located and arrested Friday evening in Kosciusko County. The suspects were located in a residence on a farm near Etna Green.

Last week Marshall County Police began an investigation to located Kody Whiteman and Adam Waggoner was are suspected of stealing a car in southern Indiana and driving back to Marshall County after escaping for the juvenile detention facility.

On Friday Kosciusko County Police received a report of two male juveniles seen in the area of 8379 West 200 North entering a barn. Officers learned that a female juvenile had been corresponding with the escaped at the detention facility. Two officers went to the property and with permission began to search the barn at the residence. Located was sleeping bags, a backpack, food, male clothing including a pair of shorts made by the Bob Barker Company, a company commonly known for providing clothing to prisons and jail facilities.

MugShot_Adam WaggonerAbout that time the 15 year old female juvenile came out of the home and police asked where the men were that left the clothing in the barn. She denied any knowledge of the clothing or men.

At that point one officer stayed outside and the other began a search of the home. Officer Joel Popenfoose began a search of the home and located Kody Whiteman hiding on an upper shelf of a hallway closet. He came out without incident. Adam Waggoner was located inside a locked upstairs bedroom and only came out after the home owner entered the room through a closet that allowed access to the room. Waggoner refused to identify himself and was later identified by a picture provided by the central dispatch center.

Both males were detained and placed in a patrol car. The female juvenile refused to obey direction from the officers and attempted to continue communications with the escapees. At one point officers had to physically remove her and she kicked one of the officers. She was then placed in handcuffs and placed under arrest for battery, assisting criminal and resisting law enforcement.
