07/27/11 Culver’s Academies and Summer Camps’ rich history will come alive in a unique way starting Monday, August 1 with the first installment of Culver Academies Museum & Gift Shop’s “Culver History Film Fest.”
For several evenings this summer, rare historical films culled from Culver Academies’ archives — many recently restored and re-mastered from vintage, reel films — will be screened at the museum, located at 102 S. Main Street in downtown Culver. Introductions to each film will provide historical context, and refreshments will be served. Each evening will last approximately two hours, and guests are welcome to come and go between films.
The first session, starting at 6:30 p.m. on the 1st, will focus on vintage films relating to Culver Summer Schools and Camps, including shorts from the 1920s and `30s, 1950s, and `60s.
Future dates, which will include screenings of winter school-related films, as well as Hollywood films set at Culver, will be announced, and each program is free and open to the public. For more information on the museum, visit www.culver.org/museum, call 574-842-8842, or email museum@culver.org
