Fun Evening at Fairfield Garden Court

January 25, 2012

01/26/12 Eileen Quivey, Resident Representative at Fairfield Garden Court in Plymouth decided to treat her neighbors and friends to a special evening on Friday, January 20th.   There was no special reason; she simply wanted to do something nice.

Along with a homemade meal of ham and beans, cornbread, salads and desserts, Quivey wanted to offer entertainment as well.  It was a long shot but she called well-known entertainer Quentin Flagg to see if he was available on the 20th.   It just so happened Flagg was in town for the evening.  When he heard her plan Flagg let her in on a little secret.  His grandmother, Burl Flagg who also lives at Fairfield was celebrating her 81st birthday on January 23rd.

The two worked out a plan in which everything was kept a secret.  The residents including Grandma Flagg were kept in the dark as to who their entertainment would be.  Those who attended were thrilled after supper when the popular, young entertainer hit the stage.  Flagg took the group on an hour long journey down memory lane with popular hits from the 40’s and 50’s.  His repertoire includes songs from Dean Martin, Elvis, Bobby Darin, Ricky Nelson and more.  He also dedicated a song to Grandma Flagg and led the group in “Happy Birthday”.

Flagg continues to travel throughout the United States performing.  To follow Flagg’s schedule you may go to www.quentinflagg.com.
