Local restaurants featured on Midwest Living’s Northern Indiana Foodie Trail

July 17, 2012

07/18/12 A diverse—and delicious—range of local restaurants were selected for the first-ever Northern Indiana Foodie Trail, launched this month by the Northern Indiana Tourism Development Commission (NITDC) in partnership with Midwest Living magazine.

Twenty-eight restaurants from seven counties made the cut to be included on the trail, which provides visitors to Northern Indiana with an easy-to-follow guide highlighting some of the best non-chain restaurants in the area. Visitors can download the Northern Indiana Foodie Trail guide on the NITDC website at www.NorthernIndianaGetaways.com. The guide booklet includes an easy-to-follow map pointing out restaurant locations, along with descriptions and contact information for each restaurant.

Marshall County restaurants making the cut for the Foodie Trail include the Corndance Café and Original Root Beer Stand in Culver, Opie’s Deli in Plymouth, and Edward Christian Dining in Bremen.

NITDC, in collaboration with the convention and visitors bureaus of Porter, LaPorte, St. Joseph, Marshall, Elkhart, Kosciusko and LaGrange counties, nominated restaurants for inclusion on the trail. Their nominations were influenced by input from residents in their respective communities collected through a Facebook campaign. The final Northern Indiana Foodie Trail list was selected by the editors of Midwest Living and reflects the region’s wide variety of foods and locations.

The complete list of restaurants on the Northern Indiana Foodie Trail is below.
