01/06/12 The choices are further expanding for Indiana residents now that Indiana freefile has added two more tax preparation vendors into the mix just in time for tax season.
1040Now and TaxSlayer are the newest additions to join INfreefile. These two bring the total number of professional tax service options to six. Those six are:

  1. 1040Now
  2. H&R Block
  3. Online Tax (OLT)
  4. Tax Hawk
  5. Tax Slayer
  6. TurboTax/Intuit

“We’re pleased to be able to add these professional tax preparers to our list of online tax preparation companies available through Indiana freefile. This allows us to provide even more options for free tax services to Indiana’s taxpayers,” said Department of Revenue Commissioner John Eckart.

Indiana freefile is the newest member of the Free File Alliance, a partnership between the IRS and private tax preparers that has been offering free tax service in states around the country since 2003. The program brings professional tax services to a wide range of income levels. In Indiana, approximately one million Hoosiers will qualify this year.

Hoosier taxpayers can find out if they qualify for the service by simply navigating to the INfreefile website at www.freefile.dor.in.gov  and examining the six different offers from the various vendors.
