Heartland Artists Gallery welcomes artist, George Vagis and his multi-media works.

January 13, 2014

01/14/14 Remarkably diverse in style and medium, artist George Vagis renders such images as lithe ballerinas, Native American character studies, and Southwest landscapes, along with a variety of recognizable sports heroes, architectural drawings, and a full range of wildlife portraits.  Equally accomplished in pen and ink, pencil, and colored pencil, or a combination of these mediums, George has won numerous awards for his drawings, paintings and illustrations.

A native Hoosier Vagis considers himself primarily self-taught, although following a tour of duty in the U.S. Army; he attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago.  His distinctive technique, which achieves a nearly photographic realism, maintains the rugged feel and appearance sought after by collectors.

Having spent a good deal of time in the Southwest, much of George’s work is centralized around that theme, capturing the beauty of the landscape and the essence of the indigenous culture.

The work of George Vagis hands in private and corporate collections nationwide, and he welcomes commissions on request.

George’s art work will be on display at Heartland Artists Gallery through February 1st.  Heartland Artists Gallery is located at 103 West LaPorte in Plymouth.
