07/06/12 An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for all of Marshall County through Saturday. Temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees today and may exceed 105 degrees in some locations on Friday. A combination of heat and humidity will push afternoon heat index values into the 105 to 115 degree range.
The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. In order to assist people who do not have access to air conditioning, several jurisdictions have established cooling centers where folks can seek refuge from the heat.
As of this morning, July 05, 2012, Marshall County Emergency Management Director Clyde Avery has received confirmation of available cooling centers for the following jurisdictions: The City of Plymouth, The Town of Culver and The Town of Bremen. The locations and times the cooling centers will be open are:
Plymouth – Life Enrichment Center – 1305 W. Harrison St. (8a – 4:30p)
NOTE: The Life Enrichment Center will provide transportation to those who need it to their facility.
Culver – Beach House Meeting Room and Town Hall Conference Room available (8a – 11pm Thursday and Friday).
Bremen – Town’s Clerk Office – 123 S. Center St. (8a – 5p Thursday and Friday)
