GreenWay Trail, Hickory Road Birdge and Culver Safe Route to School Projects Funded

02/05/14 In November the Indiana Department of Transportation put out a notice that federal transportation funds would be available for any type of new projects such as bridges, roads, safety, trails, safe routes to school or any type of project eligible under the federal transportation highway bill. 

Tuesday afternoon the LaPorte District announced local winners. 

The City of Plymouth will receive $445,504 for the second phase of the Greenway Trail. 

The Town of Culver will receive $239,200 for a Safe Routes to School project along Academy Road and College Avenue.

The Marshall County Commissioners were awarded $1,658,000 for the Hickory Road Bridge replacement project.

Funds for new projects will cover all phases of development and construction of the project to be bid in state fiscal year 2017. (between July 1, 2016 – April 30, 2017)

Others in the area receiving funding included $60,000 for a Safe Routes to School project in Rochester and $800,000 for bridge # 7 replacement over the Yellow River in Starke County.
