09/21/12 Tri Kappa will host the 2012 Plymouth History Walk on Sunday, September 23rd from 4 to 6 p.m. in Oakhill Cemetery. The Plymouth History Walk has been going on for almost five years and features actors portraying the deceased as it relates to the local history.
Participants will enjoy a FREE autumn walk and learn a bit about the community’s history. Tri Kappa members will escort visitors on a guided tour of several grave sites where the dead will speak.
This year the History Walk will highlight Maye VanKueren who will explain why her sister killed her husband, John Houghton, and Dr. Adolph Holtzendorff who outlived two wives and helped shape Plymouth at the turn of the century. Others to be portrayed include Grove “The Judge” and Clarissa Pomeroy who owned the Plymouth Hotel and brought the name Plymouth to the city and Joe Strummer a fictional sexton who knows lots about the business of dying.
New this year will be a History Hunt for kids with a reward and old-fashioned candy sticks for sale.
Although the History Walk is a free event, donations are welcomed and benefit the Marshall County Museum. Tickets for the quilt that is currently on display at the museum will also be available for $1 each or six ticket for $5.
