02/28/12 Lincoln Junior High School was proud to induct sixty students into the National Junior Honor Society in a ceremony that was held in the Lincoln Junior High gym on Sunday, February 26th.
Mrs. Sarah McKenzie, Language Arts teacher and head of the LJH National Honor Society opened the ceremony with introductions. Principal Dan Funston told the crowd what National Junior Honor Society is. February 24 marked the 83rd anniversary of the founding of the National Junior Honor Society. Today more than 7,500 chapters exist in this, the nation’s largest middle level student organization. NJHS chapters promote scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
National Junior Honor Society president, Emily McKenzie spoke of the scholarship, while other officers: Gabby Garver, vice president, Eric Burch, secretary and Karly Gruett, treasurer talked about the importance of service, leadership, citizenship and character.
The inductee’s that received a pin in Sundays ceremony were Mia Arroyo, Melanie Cooper, Grace Cupka, Gloria Garcia, Carmen Gutierrez, Makayla Harrison, Anya Hettich, Terrance Hooten, Emily Hopple, Corbin Kucera, Daisy Lyon, Bre Martin, Isabelle Miller, Morgan Oberley, Maggie Phillips, Elizabeth Polstra, Rachel Rettig, Sara Smith, George Stults, David Bacon, Anna Bockman, Ryan Carmichael, Gabe Celmer, Natasha Craft, Giuliana Davis, Alicia Dennie, Jessica Drury, Sarah Fager, Nick Felke, Emma Frantz, Isaias Frias, Garrett Garver, John Gerard, Ashley Harrell, Emily Hoffer, Hanna Hopple, Nicole Horvath, Patrick Houser, Erin Hunter, Evan Johnson, Victoria Leazenby, Emme Listenberger, Cassie McPherron, Nate Nixon, Travis Owen, Carson Pifer, Hannah Puckett, Calvin Raymond, Alex Rostron, Maddy Samuelson, Jennifer Sayer, Destiny Schoff, Colten Schuler, Lanae Singleton, Emory Smith, Kennedy Snyder, Brittani Splix, Victoria Styers, Ellie Switzer, and Hannah Walker.
The honored students will be required to maintain a grade point average of 10.0 or higher and participate in voluntary work, along with maintaining good standing in the schools and the community.
