10/30/13 Plymouth Center for Hospice Care volunteer Ken McDermott made a special presentation to Fred Morrow of Miller’s Senior Living Community. The Center for Hospice likes to honor their clients who have been in the military. Morrow served in the United States Air Force from 1942 until 1946. His training base was in Albuquerque where he trained to fly B-17’s, B-24’s and B-29’s. Upon discharge Morrow attended Indiana University where he met and married his wife Shirley in 1949.
McDermott presented Morrow with a veteran’s lapel pin which has the state of Indiana on it. He also presented him with a plaque of appreciation.
“I meet many WWII veterans as I volunteer through hospice,” stated McDermott. “I’ve met many fine men and women that faced the challenge of that era. I know it wasn’t easy, but you did it. Your service to our country in preserving our freedom is greatly appreciated. We thank you for doing what was right and just. You answered the call and have been a good citizen your entire life. We thank you!”
