2 Injured on Crash at Fir and US 30

August 26, 2010

Saturday afternoon Officer Rob Hafke with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two vehicle crash at US 30 and Fir Road at 1:47.

The crash occurred when a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina driven by 20 year old Catherine Chapman of South Bend failed to yield to traffic on US 30.  She pulled into the path of a 2002 GMC Yukon driven by 30 year old Maria Diaz Cisneros of Chicago who was traveling west bound.

Impact was on the passenger’s side of Cisneros’ Yukon.  Both vehicles came to rest in the northwest shoulder of the intersection.  Both occupants were trapped until Bourbon Fire was able to extricate them.

Chapman was transported to the Warsaw Hospital while her passenger, fiancé Kaleb Zimmerman from Granger was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.   Cisneros was not injured in the crash.
