Three Arrested for Insurance Fraud

08/22/11 City Police arrest three for Insurance Fraud and other charges.

On June 22nd the Plymouth Police Department received a report from Katie Loftus regarding the theft of her 2007 Chrysler Sebring from her residence on Freeman Drive.  On July 6th information was received indicating that the Chrysler was located at a residence in Tippecanoe.  Police were also told that it had been cut into pieces.

Detective Sgt. Leo Mangus began an investigation that revealed a theft claim had been filed with the insurance company by Katie Loftus on June 22nd.

On July 14th the Chrysler that had been reported stolen was located at a residence in the 18,000 block of State Road 331 near Tippecanoe.  It had been cut into pieces with a cutting torch.  Officers located identification numbers the matched that of the stolen vehicle.  On July 15th more pieces of the car were located at a residence in the 19,000 block of 12th Road west of Plymouth.

After further investigation Detective Mangus was able to secure a warrant for the arrest of 25 year old Katie Loftus regarding false informing, insurance fraud, and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud. A warrant was also issued for 31 year old Andrew Mitchell of Kings Court for insurance fraud and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.  Detective Mangus also received a warrant for the arrest of 34 year old Lawton Carter Jr. of Tippecanoe.  His chargers were also insurance fraud and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.

All three subjects were arrested and incarcerated in the Marshall County Jail.
