PIDCO to Host a Book and a Beer

May 22, 2013

05/23/13ThePlymouth Industrial Development Corporation is hosting a Community Book talk entitled “A Book and A Beer” at the Office at the City Center in downtown Plymouth.

PIDCO along with many other groups and individuals are interested in economic development strategies.  This is a difficult issue facing all communities throughout the nation.  We can use outside resources, ideas, and consultants, but each community must develop its own plan.  To further our communities discussions PIDCO is conducting “A Book and A Beer” community book talk using the book Hollowing Out The Middle – The Rural Brain Drain and What It Means for America, by Patrick J. Carr and Maria J. Kefalas.  PIDCO believes the book offers the community valid discussion points related to the brain drain and its implications to a community like ours.  It should not simply be characterized as a book about education. Individuals, organizations, businesses, and the community at large impact our students and their decisions in many ways.  The book explores the predictable paths of the Achievers, Stayers, Seekers, and Returners; opening many interesting discussion points.

PIDCO is offering a free copy to interested community members who can commit to attend the discussion sessions.
