Plymouth Man Sentenced for Child Pornography

November 10, 2011

11/11/11 On Monday a Plymouth man was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to distributing child pornography.

U.S. District Judge Robert Miller Jr.  also ordered Jack E. Smith Jr. to remain on supervised release for the rest of his life after he finishes serving his 151-month sentence. Smith also will be required to register as a sex offender.

Authorities said they found more than 6,000 images and videos of child pornography on Smith’s computer last year. He also has a history of child molesting convictions dating back to 1992.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Smith is facing a charge in Marshall County of failing to register as a sex offender.

Jack Smith of Plymouth pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography and admitted he made some of the videos.

Smith will also have to register as a sex offender for life.
