National Guard Soldier Takes His Own Life

06/30/11 An active duty National Guard Soldier from Plymouth took his own life early Wednesday morning during a domestic disturbance.

The Marshall County Police Department received a 9-1-1 call form the 10,000 block of Muckshaw Road in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers were dispatched to Muckshaw Road and while in-route to the scene were informed that Jason Nemeth took his own life. When officers arrived on the scene they found Nemeth laying in the yard with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The incident is still under investigation. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Police, Fire and EMS.

Jason Nemeth was a 2003 graduate of PHS. He served his country as an active duty National Guardsman and had served in Afghanistan until December 2010. He worked for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department until recently as a dispatcher.

Many of his friends and co-workers believe that he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
