Jeni Hirschy, current assistant principal, was named principal during the school board meeting on July 10. Hirschy replaces outgoing Principal Donna Burroughs who has accepted a position with Triton Schools as superintendent.

Prior to coming to Plymouth, Hirschy was Assistant Principal at DeKalb High School, Waterloo, IN; teacher and coach at Southern Wells Jr.-Sr. High School, Poneto, IN; and teacher and coach at Homestead High School, Ft. Wayne, In.

Hirschy has also served as the Migrant/ENL Director for the Plymouth Corporation since 2006. Plymouth Schools Superintendent Daniel Tyree said, “Jeni showed her ability to handle administrative work and be innovative at the same time in the years has handled our ENL grants. I have confidence in her ability to continue the great reputation Riverside Intermediate has established.”

She received her Bachelor of Science in Education, Master of Science in Education, and Elementary Administration and Supervision, and Secondary Administration and Supervision, all from Ball State University.

Referring to her new position, Hirschy said, “Although I am not new to Riverside, I most certainly look forward to working with the students, staff, and Riverside School community in a different capacity.” She said, “We are coming off of a very successful year where we were named a School to Watch by the Indiana Middle School Association.” “I look forward to carrying on the programs that have been implemented as well as implementing the 1:1 technology as well as other initiatives.” she added.

Hirschy and her husband Bruce are the parents of two children.
