South Bend Man Arrested after Pursuit

MugShot_JOHN VOGTOn Thursday, August 21, at approximately 8:00 PM the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a call in reference to a crash that had occurred at US 30 and King Road. The caller advised that a maroon van that had collided with her and had left the scene, traveling west on US 30.

The suspect vehicle was later located by Patrolman Jordan Rans traveling north on the new US 31 in the area of 6th Road. A traffic stop was initiated on the suspect vehicle to investigate the hit and run accident and other infractions observed. The vehicle failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued.

The vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of the new US 31 and US 6 and the driver, 51 year old John Vogt of South Bend was taken into custody without incident. Mr. Vogt was lodged in the Marshall County Jail for Leaving the Scene Of A Property Damage Accident, Operating A Vehicle While Intoxicated, and Resisting Law Enforcement. The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police and LaPaz Fire & EMS.
