10/12/12 Three Culver Academies students will be making a special donation to Pacqui Kelly, wife of Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly, prior to start of the Culver-Fairfield football game Friday night. The donation will support the Kelly Cares Foundation.
As part of their senior community service project, seniors Aramonti Phillips, Tristan Van de Velde, and Mason Quinn sold “Pink Out” T-shirts to students for Friday’s game. Proceeds from those sales will be donated to the Kelly Cares Foundation. The Culver cheerleaders are also selling eye black with pink logos to support the foundation. Students have been asked to wear the hot pink shirts and eye black to Friday’s home game.
The presentation to Mrs. Kelly will take place at 7:15 p.m. Phillips and Van de Velde are members of the Eagles football team.
The Kelly Cares Foundation’s mission is to support organizations, initiatives and programs that closely align with the goals and values of the Kelly family in three main pillars; HEALTH: personal involvement with an emphasis on breast cancer research and prevention; EDUCATION: institutional advancement at all levels and capacities; COMMUNITY: involvement in selected initiatives and projects.
Pacqui Kelly is a two-time survivor of breast cancer. The Kellys have an existing relationship with Culver as their three children have attended Culver Summer Schools and Camps.
The donation presentation will be a part of Culver’s Senior Night festivities that will include a March On by the Corps of Cadets and introduction of senior football players, cheerleaders, and their parents. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
